Working Trailer Fire in Ridge
By Lieutenant Scot Best
April 30, 2009
Just before 1800 on April 29, Ridge VRS was dispatched to a working house fire on Hatties Lane in Ridge. Ambulance 499 responded within minutes of the call.
Engines from Ridge VFD quickly knocked the fire. The initial search of the residence found no one home. However, the family dog was later found hiding in a closet and sadly, perished from smoke inhalation. Additional Engines from NASEA (NDWFD) and Bay District VFD responded and assisted in overhaul.
The crew from Ambulance 499 provided rehab for the firefighters.
The Fire Marshal's investigation determined the fire to be accidental, resulting from an electrical malfunction within the breaker box.
There were no injuries reported. The local chapter of the American Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
