By Lieutenant Scot Best
May 26, 2008
5/26/2008: Ridge VRS was alerted to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a John Deere Gator tractor on Route 235 in Dameron this afternoon. A man was operating a Gator when he attempted to cross Route 235 in the area of Carrol's Equipment. The vehicle attempted evasive maneuvers but there was a head-on impact, causing the ejection of the driver of the Gator.
A Calvert County Medic Unit was in the area returning from a stand-by and was the first on the scene. The Calvert medic advised fireboard that Trooper 7 would be needed for the man ejected. A497 arrived on the scene and began patient care of the ejected man. St. Mary's County Medic 3 arrived soon after and assisted with patient packaging for the fly-out. Lexington Park VRS A398 packaged and transported the car driver to St. Mary's Hospital as a Priority 2 patient. Trooper 7 helicopter flew the injured man to Prince George's Hospital's trauma unit.
Firefighters from Ridge VFD and Naval Air Station Patuxent River - Webster Field respond for traffic control, patient care, and a landing zone for the Trooper..
