Second Annual 'Cow Pie Bingo'

The second annual 'Cow Pie Bingo' hosted by the Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary was another success! The event was again held at Flat Iron Farm, and though it was rainy, there was still a strong turnout. Unfortunately, the car show had to be canceled due to the rainy conditions.

Unlike last year, Safety Officer George Gatton did not have to run and jump into the stands in fear of his life! The 'cows' were a little more timid this year, and the judges -- former County Commissioner and friend of the RVRS Daniel Raley, Safety Officer George Gatton and member Eddie Boswell didn't have to avoid the horns like they did last year. A fun time was had by all, and a lot of great door prizes were also announced. There was a child's electric scooter, a cow cake made by President Amy Raley and a 50/50 raffle. The winner of the scooter was Andrea Hamilton, while Frances Titus won the cow cake and George Gatton won the 50/50.

The winners for the Bingo were:
3rd place: Dottie Cullison
2nd place: American Legion Post 255
1st place: Linda Raley

We would like to extend a thanks to Tom Cooper, the general manager of Rockin' Oldies 95.9 and Thunder 104.5 in Fredericksburg Va for being the MC for the second year of our event. We would also like to thank JoAnn Stauffer, who supervised the release of the cows. We would also like to extend an additional thanks to Bubby Knott for graciously letting us use his farm for our event, and for then releasing 25 bunny rabbits and allowing the kids to retrieve the ones they wanted! It was a great surprise for the kids and parents in attendance, and Bubby even supplied transport boxes and food for the rabbits!

Next years Cow Pie Bingo event has been announced as well! The event will once again be held at Flat Iron Farm on Saturday, October 11th 2014. We'll see you there on a square!
