Ridge VRS & Auxiliary Scrabble Cruz

We will start at the Point Lookout State Park Museum.  Registration will be from 10:00am-11:00am.  Once you are registered, you will be given detailed route information.  There will be 2 tiles given out at the start and at each of the four locations between Point Lookout and Bert’s 50’s diner in Mechanicsville, MD.  Once at Bert’s, you will draw a bonus tile.  This tile can be a double letter, triple letter, double word, or triple word tile.  If the player draws a double or triple letter tile the player decides what tile they would like to double or triple.

The player that spells the word worth the most points wins.  Words must be 10 letters or less.  Players can exchange tiles among themselves.  Acceptable words must appear in the scrabble dictionary including plurals, different tenses, and variant spellings. Unacceptable words include words that are always capitalized, abbreviations, prefixes and suffixes that stand alone, and words that require a hyphen or an apostrophe.  If a player uses all ten of their tiles they will have a “BINGO”.  According to the Official Scrabble rules, they will receive 50 bonus points in addition to the points for the word.  Words must be turned in by 2:15 and the winner will be announced by 2:30.  You do not need to be present at the time of the announcement to win.  Please feel free to purchase lunch, Ice cream, and or beverages at the Diner.  This is a family friendly event and NO Alcohol is permitted to be consumed in Bert’s Parking lot.  This is not a Race.  Getting to Bert’s before anybody else will not give you an advantage over the other players. 

In the event of a two way tie, the prize money will be split.  In the event of more than a two way tie, the majority of the winners shall determine how the prize money will be awarded, either by splitting it evenly or placing name in a hat and drawing the winner.
