By Secretary/Lieutenant David Morris
September 1, 2014

At 1006, the duty crew from Company 49 was dispatched to a residence in St. Inigoes for the report of an ALS stroke. Before the day-time duty crew could respond, Rescue Box 4-04 was dispatched at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Chisleytown Road for the reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.

Within minutes, Ambulance 497 (Lt. Gillespie) was en route to the stroke call. Shortly thereafter, Ambulance 498 (Lt. Morris) and Ambulance 496 (Lt. Lowmiller) were responding to the motor vehicle collision. Ambulance 498 and 496 arrived on scene shortly after units from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Naval District Washington (NDW) Webster Field Fire Department. With assistance from the fire department personnel, crews from both units began triaging and treating the four patients on the scene. Ambulance 498 transported two patients, one priority two and one priority three, to St. Mary's Hospital. Ambulance 496 transported one patient, priority three, while Lexington Park VRS transported another patient, priority three.

Ambulance 497 ended the day by handling an ALS headache call.
